The name Pinot noir derives from the shape of the grapes which look like small pine cones; it originated in Burgundy where it has a long history. There are a number of different kinds of Pinot noir, so much so that in the Loire valley they are generically called "Plantes nobles". This Pinot noir is the result of grapes from vines grown following strict quality criteria in the Pressano and Lavis areas of the Province of Trento. The wine's stability depends on the year and the yield per hectare. The wine in this bottle comes from controlled production vines. It rests in small casks for ten months, enabling the velvety and harmonious woody flavour to develop. Its intense ruby red colour, its delicate and steady bouquet and its soft dry flavour are the expression of an excellent balance.
